We’re super excited to let you know that we will have a new school building in 2014. Brisbane City planning approval arrived this week and this means we can move ahead with the purchase of 38 Berwick Street Fortitude Valley and start the process of turning it into a state of the art facility that will help us deliver an even better educational experience for our students.
The history and location of the new building is also a strength. The building was owned by the original drummer for Regurgitator and has played host to recording sessions by iconic Brisbane bands Powderfinger and the Go Betweens as well as a host of others. We are both happy and proud that MIC can play a part in continuing the strong musical history of the site.
The location is right in the heart of Brisbane’s music and arts community. We share a street address with the Judith Wright Arts Centre, The Institute of Modern Art, Youth Arts Queensland, BIGSOUND music conference, and Foot Stomp Music (Warner Music) and we are just a short walk from The Zoo, QMusic, APRA/AMCOS, Tym’s Guitars, and a host of other music industry businesses.

Hi. I have been involved in Lecturing / Teaching Music in many faculties in OZ. I have worked in Colleges in W.A. Sydney, Bowral N.S.W I changed Nudgee College from a “Classical Music Dept.” into Contemporary Music Faculty. I was the first College in OZ to have a fully accredited “Hight School” Music Dept as a Uni off Campus site. I have taught many great Musios there and I love your concept.
I am semi retired and I did a Real Estate Licence so I can do development work. So I can sign off Leases etc in my own right and don’t need paying massive fees.
I am in Ipswich at the moment as Mum is about to go visit God at 90 and I have been looking at what is available here. Nothing of interest. I think your style of College would be great here. I have looked at two buildings in the CBD with major exposure and I thought you may be interested in having another College here? [Just a thought] I’m happy to set it up using the same principals as you have there. Ipswich has been a TOTAL HOLE of a place and the new 20,000 homes have started to be built on the southern fringe which will bring in heaps of new families come into the place and change is to happen.
I like the Music Industry College Concept from what I see and hear. I would invest in the place and maybe you would be willing to be a partner without having to outlay cash but use the same concepts. I’m not into control of anything. I’m just interested and would set up here. I don’t need cash / wages so I would not rely on it to live, rather set it up as a sister project? It may be worth having a yak?
Just random thinking!!! Maybe a goer. It would also span out your area of intake? Who knows I thought it interesting concept.

Thank you for your interest in MIC. We have looked at Ipswich as a possible campus in the past however the interest from young people in the area was not at a level to give us sustainability in the area at the time. Currently we have a number of students who travel from the western Brisbane and Ipswich areas to attend out Valley Campus.
